Guest guest
4 EASY WAYS TO LIVE A LONGER, RICHER LIFEHealthy habits benefit you now and later Good news, guys: You don't need drugs or complicated surgeries to increase your shelf life. A few simple lifestyle changes is all it takes. A new British study found that four healthy habits — drinking moderately, exercising, quitting smoking, and eating five servings of fruits and vegetables daily — can add 14 years to your life. Researchers studied the lifestyles of 20,000 men and women for 13 years. Each person was given one point for each healthy behavior they practiced. A person with a score of 0 had the same risk of dying as someone with a score of 4 who was 14 years older. Those with no points were also four times more likely to have died during the study, especially from heart disease. Of the four habits, giving up the sticks provided the greatest benefit — an 80 percent improvement in health. Obeying Mom and eating fruits and vegetables resulted in the second greatest health benefit, while moderate drinking and staying active brought the same benefits.
