Guest guest
Interesting topic, lots of varied thoughts on this. But seems to me any time we have an IEP or 504 Plan or other type accommodations for our kids, we are accommodating/enabling OCD. Why else have one? You might state objectives in the Plan but they are worked on over time, in steps. So there's still accommodation/modification as opposed to none/no enabling. Any time you have a " safe person or place " for the child to go to, or is allowed to get up and leave the room when feeling anxious or they can turn in late work or take extra time for tests...all that is enabling but something to be worked on during the school year, even the next year if still affecting you at school. Just seems to me the cafeteria accommodation falls into the same category. OK, bedtime for me. Lots of views on this. Interesting to read!
