Any > Canadians out there that can verify that for me? > > le Canada has free healthcare (although rarely accessible, especially if you have a grave illness like cancer or heart disease, because of very long waiting lists). Dental care used to be free for children under 16 years old (at least in Quebec it was), but now you either pay each time you go, get personal insurance (which is extremely expensive) or have dental care with your employer. As for drugs/medications, in Quebec again, everyone must pay drug insurance (sick or not sick), except those that are on welfare. This has caused very grave problems because older sick people have to pay their insurance in addition to a portion of their medications. More and more older people are not taking their medications anymore because it is much more expensive this way, so they come more and more into the hospital with badly controlled illnesses, which increases the financial burden on the health care system. It is all very complicated.... Janick who almosts feels like puking when talking about this

It shoots out numbing stuff as the needle slowly goes into the gum. So you don't feel it going in. The only thing is that it is very slow. It seemed like it took at least a minute and a half. But painless!! What I can't stand is the sounds of the clamps, and the scraping and the drill, UGH!!!

When I have to have work, I insist on laughing gas because I can't even stand the needles. Gas can be expensive, but maybe they can prescribe a tranquilizer for you. I haven't been to the dentist for awhile because I don't have dental insurance and I'm too scared to go and hear how bad my teeth are I'm sorry you weren't able to get everything taken care of today and have to put it off til next week! I'll be thinking of you and hoping everything goes well. The anticipation and worry is probably worse than the actual procedure! Let us know how everything goes! Guest guest
, congrats about your awesome front kick!!! that is awesome!! and i totally understand what you mean about the welfare thing... my best friend lives on welfare and it used to drive me crazy! she would be able to go out all the time, afford the very best for her kids, she drives a nicer car than me, the state paid for her to go to college... it makes me crazy!!! i get so tired of going to work every day and struggling when she gets to have all the time in the world with her kids and has everything handed to her!!! sorry to hear about your tooth... stuff like that is sooooo painful!! hang in there, it'll all work out! and just remember, at least we can respect ourselves and know that we have worked hard to get what we have... that is more than they can say for themselves!! i couldn't live with myself taking advantage of the system the way some people do! ~Nicci ______________________________________________________
Guest guest
, I am so sorry for your troubles (tooth and insurance). It isn't fair. I know we paid almost $100 for insurance with my hubby's last job because my daughter has to have a mouth piece/retainer (we thought at three but now they moved it to age 4) and that is $500+. Also I have needed a crown for two years now and as long as the tooth doesn't bother me, I keep putting it off. I am going to be sorry. I haven't even been to the dentist since Vince changed jobs. I will though as soon as we move again. You will be in my thoughts and prayers that it will work out in the end. I think it's Canada that has free health and dental don't they - or is it just health??? Any Canadians out there that can verify that for me? le
