Cocaine, pot, poppers and crystal meth did not affect people's CD4 cells

My comment:

16-17% of crystal meth use was not high enough for me to be convinced. I wonder who has the actual numbers of patients and the statistical significance for every drug use group. I have seen people go downhill fast with meth. Not sure what part of that is poor nutrition and lack of sleep and what part is the actual toxic effects of snorting, smoking or shooting TINA.

Use of the recreational drugs, cannabis, cocaine, poppers, or amphetamines, does not adversely affect the number or percentage of CD4 or CD8 cells in either HIV-positive or HIV-negative gay men, according to data from the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study (MACS) published online on January 3rd in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence. However, the investigators did not measure the quality or function of these cells.
