Guest guest
Hello Folks, I am Becky, I live in the high mountains of North Central Arizona and am a new member to your group. I have RA and was diagnosed about 8 or 9 months ago. I am on a regime of Methotrexate and etodolac, which seems to be now keeping my painlevel about 2 to 3 in my wrists and hands. I have a question. Is there any medicine currently out that does not require getting bloodwork done every 6 to 8 weeks, like the methotrexate does. I live quite far from any labs and it is getting pretty costly. Thanks for any help you can give me. Hope you are all having a blessed day. It is beautiful and sunny where I live. Guest guest
Hi, Becky. I'm not aware of any effective medicine that doesn't require frequent blood work but there might be some. It might be possible to have some medical facility (hospital, clinic, or doctor's office) near you take the blood sample and ship it to the laboratory. It's worth some phone calls to find out. Good luck and God bless. Guest guest
Hi Becky, I'm also new to the group myself, I have RA, Fibro for 13 yrs and I been fine until now for the last 2 1/2 months I have been having so much pain in my hands, they put me on Vicodin and tomorrow I go to the DR and he wants to start me on Arava. I have been having blood taken out once a month for 13 yrs But when I start taking Arava It will be taken out every two weeks cuz of the side effects. I don't know any medication that doesn't ask to take blood out. God Bless . Lucy Hello Folks, I am Becky, I live in the high mountains of North Central Arizona and am a new member to your group. Guest guest
Thank you Grandpavan, I will be seeing the Dr. in the not to distant future and will ask about it. Will report anything interesting that they tell me. I will check on the bloodwork possibility. Thanks! Great Group. Regards, Becky <Snipped> Hi, Becky. Guest guest
Thank you for your response Lucy, I hope that the Arava will work for you, keep us all posted on it. So far I have only been put on Etodolac (anti -Inflammatory) and Methotrexate with folic acid. For personal reasons I did not want to be put on Predisone, so they did not put me on that as originally planned. It probably delayed how long it took the Methotrexate to work, but that was OK. It is working pretty well for me. I also quit drinking coffee and other caffine drinks when I started the drugs, I had read online somewhere that caffine could interefere with Methotrexate, so just to be on the safe side I quit. I drink lots of water now to keep me flushed out. Again thank you for your response will keep you in my prayers. Becky Eagar, AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: lucyoo1@...
