I'm > cheering you on too! Hi Gail and Group, Sorry I hit the wrong button. I went to bed at 5:40 AM for a few hours of sleep. I am exhausted but still have to finish my day of work. My meeting lasted over 4 hrs. I honestly didn't think I could talk that much. The nasty school attorney was not present instead another woman that never said a word. I made a list of all the IEP items that were not followed with dates and complete situations. I told the team that at any time that the IEP was not followed I was never contacted for a meeting to discuss changing the IEP or was I ever made aware of any situations. I addressed the allegations of my being called a problem parent and being escorted from the school by police and not willing to discuss Zeb's program. The team was stunned as I knew they would be but the central office was made to apologize for inaccurate info given to their attorney and the teachers had all very nice things to say about me. It is now on the record. I addressed every untrue or misleading statement that was placed in the files right down to the principal's contradictory statements regarding Zeb being isolated for long lengths of time. He did say it was short time outs, having the attorney files we had the signed statements by the principal saying otherwise. I addressed the testing that was done last year but mistakenly omitted from the record stating that he had early 3rd grade comprehension skills and they were lowered by 2 yrs after 10 mos. The other testing is on file. The OT never showed after waiting 6 mos for her to discuss the independant eval that was done. I was able to correct everything that was shaded with no resistance. I also have the same placement as this year but the program itself will be more defined by the independant ed consultant. I asked the school directly if they still wanted to take me to court for placement when I didn't hear any comments otherwise protesting what was now in place. The school central office said no. I is still not official but all in all I did it! My older son came with me and was great too! I think he has a little of mom in him. The teachers proceeded to explain developmental levels and grade expectation not knowing that he has children, one in the 3rd grade. said he didn't need an explanation as he does have a 3rd grader and is quite aware of the expectations. They were very quiet after that. I will see what happens this next school year and if there is a problem I know that I have the homeschooling that I can rely on. gave me the Seton program and I was able to get some great info. It is a small world, a relative of my husband happens to work for them. I want to thank all of you for cheering me on!!! It helped so much and I had my day. My son missed an entire day of work and I am off to my granddaughter's baseball play off game. I couldn't tell my son no after all that he has helped me with. Charlyne Mom to Zeb 9 DS/OCD ? Guest guest
charlyne, it must feel SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good to get the inaccuracies on the table and cleared up. I hope the teachers were horrified with how the rumors and venting and whatever else turned into a nightmare for you. Is this why the other meeting was canceled? We never heard what happened there. I " m assuming that somehow your attorney found something that negated most of what the other attorney had claimed about you and Zeb. Heh. Good for him. Nice to hear something *good* in your corner for a change. Now...take care of you for a few days. Joan
