Last Update: 5:25 pm The symptoms of autism and lead poisoning mimic each other in many ways. Now doctors are finding some children are dealing with *both.* 4-year-old Noah Breakiron was diagnosed with autism. But then his pediatrician also found lead poisoning seven times the upper limit in his body. Chelation treatments, used to remove metals from the body, have reduced noah's lead levels and have made a huge impact. " It was really powerful and amazing for us to watch. It was literally watching a miracle right in front of our eyes, " said noah's father, Rob Breakiron. " We have a child here who is virtually indistinguishable from his peers and that's certainly not what he was a year or two years ago, " added Pediatrician Berger, MD. Because the symptoms of autism and lead poisoning are so similar, Noah's parents say they will never know which one came first, autism or lead poisoning.
