And they want to hold the DAN Conference in New Jersey? Helen - from the other side of the country, we have also discussed the amount of mercury released into the atmosphere by wildfires in CA and AZ (we have been directly downwind in the past seven years). I'm ready to move to New Mexico, except I hear there is a problem with radiation(?) there. Someone correct me if I am wrong.Rox Mercury air pollution linked to autism

Hi I'm new to the group - has this topic ever been discussed on the

list? I've found articles referring to coal burning plants which

release pollution into the air - this one is from 2005 - does anyone

know of further studies that were done. I live in NJ where we have a

number of these plants and a rising autism rate.

I'm in California, and I know that we are getting pollution (including Hg) from

coal fired

plants in Asia. This country loves to blame other countries, and while I know

that Asia

needs to clean up its environment, I would bet that a good portion comes from

the US as

well. Not to imply that this is nearly as damaging as mercury being injected

directly into

your child's veins, but still a huge concern to our childrens' health.

As for radiation in NM, I don't know the answer to that, although I do know that

NM,

Nevada, and many other western sites were used for nuclear testing.

Yes just like nj is blaming pennsylvania for our air - i did hear that

Californias mercury pollution is being blamed on Asias increase in coal

burning - the whole world needs to come together and do something

because it will affect everyone. today its 1 in 150 tomorrow it will

be a higher incidence.
