Confused about how Massachusetts runs their schools

Hello everyone,

Is anyone in the group from MA? My family just relocated from CA

(great autism services) to Hopkinton (outside of Boston) and I'm not

having any luck with the school district. To make things kind of

simple I'll just start out by saying they do not want to meet my IEP

that I brought, they want to amend it to take out the things that

they can't do so that they are in compliance. This infuriates me b/c

they are trying to take everything that I worked so hard to get for

my 2 autistic boys.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good parent advocates that I

could talk to. I have a feeling that this is not going to be

simple. One of my boys has SIBS (headbanging) and he is a VERY

fragile learner. They tried to tell me that he couldn't have a BCBA

on his staff b/c they don't have one in the school he will be

attending (my IEP says a BCBA must design, implement and provide

training for all of his programs. He is so fragile that he has to

have highly trained staff around him at all times and they don't want

to provide that. This is very concerning to me.

If you have any advice on what I should do I would really appreciate

it. You can also feel free to e-mail me off list if you want more

details on how they're trying to push me around. I just didn't want

to write a book on here.

Thanks for your time,
