Guest guest
Hello. My name is Ginger. My daughter has Down syndrome, not autism, but I have become very interested in mercury issues of late, so I thought I'd join in, at least for awhile. Anyway- for the mom whose daughter is holding her lower belly, I would consider 2 things as possible causes. I attended Dr. Wakefield's lecture at the vaccine conference in DC a couple of months ago, and he has found that a lot of children with autism have what he has named autistic enterocolitis. If I had a gut wall that looked like the pictures he flashed up there, I think I'd be holding my gut, and probably rocking and moaning too. OUCH!! This is often accompanied by alternating bowel habits- constipation switching with diarrhea. It is possible that your daughter has a fecal impaction. These are quite uncomfortable, and could account for her behavior. G Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum viditur. (Whatever is said in Latin sounds lofty.)
