Guest guest
Amazing that they would give you such a hard time... it's like a mandate to attend school. They offer the shots at the agency where I work (A county MRDD program). After declining the shots for 10 years (Thimerasol was a non-issue at the time) I finally decided that I would get one. I continued for the next 6 years, during which time I developed asthma that kept getting worse. It was my dh who made me sit down and watch camping videos of me up to the summer before that first shot. Guess what? No asthma. He continued to show family videos within the following few months (Christmes, etc.) and in every single one of them, there I was...coughing away!!! Needless to say, I wasn't surprised when my dd was able to pinpoint my grandson's regression to the flu shot that she was guilted into! Anyway, rambling aside, if you really need a reason and you don't want to get a religious exemption, you can always tell them that you have an allergy to eggs. That ought to make em step away from you! -Trish > > I work in a hospital. Joint Commission now requires paperwork if an > employee declines the flu shot. Guest guest
I declined the flu shot at my workplace. For the reason, I put that I did not want to have mercury and aluminum injected into my body. Simple answer..... S. Rankin
Guest guest
Technically, they only need to " annually evaluate...reasons for nonparticipation. " See EOP IC.4.15. I work in the Quality Mgt dept of a hospital. Although they are supposed to be offered to staff, because I don't work directly w/patients, the IC nurse offers me vax, but has never asked me to do the declination paperwork. But, if they did, I would either: 1. throw away the form or 2. tell the truth - I don't want to be injected w/heavy metals or other toxins not proven to be safe for humans The are also supposed to " educate " you. Well, you just can't talk to some people. Ever smile, " thank you, " and walk away? Carolyn > > I work in a hospital. Joint Commission now requires paperwork if an > employee declines the flu shot. Guest guest
That is exactly what I wrote when they pressured me into getting the flu shot. I then wrote a very detailed letter to the CEO of the hospital about Thimerosal dangers etc... I have yet to hear from him. I bet he never even heard of Thimerosal. Most of the ER physicians I work with never did either! Tina > > I declined the flu shot at my workplace. Guest guest
I had an allergic reaction the one time I got one. My entire arm from shoulder to hand was on fire with itching, they made me stay longer to make sure I didn't go anaphylactic. It itched for 3 days. I didn't know at the time, but I was pregnant. now I just tell everyone I had an allergic reaction that was feared to be mild anaphylaxis. They don't wanna take that chance again, though I fear they will tell me it was too long ago to worry about it happening again. I'm so blessed, the public university I went to acted like it was such a big deal for nursing students to be immunized out the wazzoo. The private college one I'm attending now could care less, they hand 2 forms, one to document when/where you had shots, the other is a waiver you sign stating you haven't had them & if you get the diseases you won't hold them responsible. They don't even ask which one you choose, just to leave the appropriate document in a folder for them. If anyone asks me which college it is, I WILL lie, no way I'm ratting them out!!!! Guest guest
I just love the threats I get because I refused though. They even said if I get the flu and call in sick I will not get paid even though I have like 100 sick days. They said because it was preventable! I said first, you will speak with my lawyer on that one and second it is a crap shoot and there are times when the CDC gets it wrong people who got the wrong strain flu shot can STILL get the flu! They just want us to comply so they get high marks from the joint commision is all. Now they have to explain why so many of us have refused the flu shot---tee hee!!!! I waiting to see if Hillary gets in do we all loose the right to refuse any vaccine?????? With her universal health care we must all submit to what they want us to do in order to get our free health care! Guest guest
My sister has worked full time and now and part time at a local hospital as an RN for approx 20 years now. She teaches a nursing program full time at a local community college and is about to recieve her doctrit degree. She was told for the first time this year that she wasn't allowed to have the flu shot, because she had a reaction several years back with her B & S contact lense solution and came very close to going blind. All of a sudden this year it became an issue with the hospital. Hmmm! Regards, Steve > > I work in a hospital. Joint Commission now requires paperwork if an > employee declines the flu shot. Guest guest
She probably asks for the shots with EXTRA thimerosal. - On 1/17/08 10:27 AM, " sspatriots " <sspatriots@...> wrote: Are you saying with or without the thimerosal? > >> > > >> > I work in a hospital. Guest guest
Wow, I have had an uphill battle trying to convince my sister of the whole vaccine issue, but I think I'm just now starting to get my point across....Steve > >>>>> > >> > > >>>>> > >> > I work in a hospital. Guest guest
In the absence of truly independant testing by sertified labs, you don't. I am pretty sure they are not adding extra mercury to the flu shots (I believe your unspoken implication is that Pharma would add extra to the flu shots now being given to kids to keep the overall exposure level consistant with that of the mid 90's pediatric schedule to ensure that autism did not decline fast enough to support the thimerosal-autism connection). What I strongly question is that they have removed thimerosal from the pediatric shots. The language used in the releases is that they have stopped adding thimerosal as a preservative. It is still being used as a fixxing agent in production, and then supposedly filtered out. I think they probably do not really filter it out, and the FDA/CDC is more than willing to simply take what Pharma says at face value.
