Guest guest
This happened so stealthily that I think very few people are even aware of it. The Military Commissions Act of 2006 enables the president (any president) to designate anyone an " enemy combatant " on no evidence and have them taken off the street or out of their homes and emprisoned without due process, even American citizens. It allows American citizens to undergo torture during interrogation. It may say " alien combatant " but the language does allow for citizens to be stripped of rights merely on the president's say-so. Does anyone know about this? I'd like to ask all the candidates how many days it would be from the time they take office that they would begin the process to repeal this. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/10/20061017-1.html http://www.aclu.org/safefree/detention/27091prs20061017.html
