Guest guest
This was interesting. McCain made a negative comment about the control the pharmaceutical companies have on us. Romney quickly defended them saying something to the effect that they are not bad and have helped us a lot. McCain shot back something like " Oh yes they are " . Did anybody catch that? -Trish

No but I saw McCain on another show and he talked about how pharma has congress in their pocket (paraphrased). **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
I heard Romney and saw McCain's face. Romney sounded like my father who lives of the dividends of his Pharma stock. He lost my vote. > > This was interesting. McCain made a negative comment about the control > the pharmaceutical companies have on us. Guest guest
Don't forget that family that questioned McCain in an Iowa forum (on You Tube) and then was invited to meet with him in Washington to explain in depth. Her report of that meeting was quite positive and she is meeting with him again as I understand it. Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year. Guest guest
McCain has been getting a lot of information from us Iowa people, particularly Lin Wessels. He's very up on the mercury issue. Guest guest
Barb, I didn't write that, but that's ok. Yes, he is up on the mercury issue more than any other candidate. I just don't believe he has a shot at the presidency, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't get after all of them about the issue either. maurinejromkema <jromkema@...> wrote: McCain has been getting a lot of information from us Iowa people, particularly Lin Wessels. Guest guest
It was Lin Wessels of A-CHAMP who was invited to Washington to meet with McCain and did so with her parents, Dr. Whiting, Bobbie Manning and Lujene .The result (so far) was a good letter from McCain and Lieberman asking for Senate hearings on autism:http://a-champ.org/McCain_Lieberman_letter.htmlHere's a nice photograph of the meeting:http://a-champ.org/McCain_Lieberman_letter.htmlOn Jan 6, 2008, at 3:43 PM, Hackpolitician@... wrote:Don't forget that family that questioned McCain in an Iowa forum (on You Tube) and then was invited to meet with him in Washington to explain in depth. Guest guest
Here are some reviews of the debate. has really impressed a lot of people. To take a moment to look at one of the highlights from last night's debate and see why members of the media are raving about 's performance, go to: www.johnedwards.com/watch/debate-reviews Stephanopoulous (ABC): " showed passion and vitality and energy tonight. He was on-message. He had a strategy tonight. I think this was one of his best debates. " DailyKos: " probably had the best performance of the night. He came across as passionate, and was more energetic than the other candidates. With the debate closing on economic issues, he was able to play his populist card to great effect and dominate the closing minutes of the debate. " AmericaBlog.com: " is really unparalleled when it comes to connecting policies with people. I certainly find it very effective. " Rick Klein (ABC): " may have turned in the strongest pure performance. " Yglesias (The Atlantic Monthly): " gave a fantastic answer about the need to combine short-term effects with a long-term commitment to 'rid the world of nuclear weapons' as part of a broad push to revitalize the non-proliferation framework. " New Hampshire Presidential Watch: " The press center is eating-up ' attack on the status quo. " Schuster (MSNBC): " I thought the guy who stood out the most was . Last night , who does not take money from corporate interests or PACs, hammered that issue again and again. " Rick Klein (ABC): " comes back to his message again and again, in an effective way. If a debate could vault him back into the game, he may be having that very debate. " Chuck Todd (NBC): " , by the way, had a very good night. " > > > > This was interesting. Guest guest
A friend of mine was referring to the situation in Kenya but had some comments about the media and I was wondering how relevant those were in this context. " It's hard to know from the news we get, which I think is often incomplete or even slanted toward the bias of people who report and/or subtly censor the news. It is true we have a free press/media in theory and perhaps more in practice than in many places in the world, but there are still powers that would distort the truth to their own advantage. " It could even be an innocuous attempt to have some fun as in " let's do this and see what happens. " Is there any news agency that is truly independent, barring an individual personal bias, that we could rely on for accurate reporting. Gayatri > > > > > > This was interesting.
