Anaphlaxis or IDIOSYNCRASY

Idiosyncrasy is the same as ANAPHYLAXIS. Richet says so.

Teenage girl suffering from allergies may have been killed by brushing her teeth with Aquafresh

Francesca Sanna suffered from allergies and complained her gums were sore before collapsing and dyingA young woman found dying by her parents was plagued by allergies and may have been killed by brushing her teeth, said her family.

Francesca Sanna, 19, who suffered from severe allergies, died of a massive anaphylactic shock, an inquest heard. In the days before her death, Francesca had complained her gums were sore after using a newly repackaged Aquafresh toothpaste. Minutes before she died, she had brushed her teeth for a night out with friends. Her parents found her lying in the hallway of their home and attempts by a neighbour to resuscitate her failed. Her mother issued a warning for allergy sufferers and manufacturers to take more care. On August 6 last year, Francesca - who was known affectionately by friends and family as Mim - was in a car with friends heading for a night out when she suddenly lurched forward and turned white. She was rushed back to her home in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, and collapsed in the hallway. Her parents had been called home urgently from the family's Italian restaurant. They watched desperately as a nurse, who happened to be nearby, attempted to resuscitate accounts clerk Francesca as she lay lifeless. Francesca suffered from asthma and severe allergies but mystery surrounded her death. A postmortem examination on August 11 proved inconclusive and further tests were needed to determine the cause of her death. Francesca's family have always believed toothpaste was the most likely cause of the reaction. And at an inquest in Blackburn, pathologist Dr Prescott said toothpaste could cause severe reactions. He said: "Both lungs were inflamed and the bronchials were plugged with mucus. But she did not die from an asthma attack - it could have been a number of different things. "People have suffered severe reactions in the past from toothpaste, mouthwash or even tampons." Carolyn Singleton, District Coroner for Blackburn, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley, recorded a narrative verdict and concluded that Francesca died from an acute anaphylactic reaction and asthma.
