Guest guest
I would just like to add to the argument AGAINST " better diagnosing " being the reason we are noticing an increase in autistic cases. I live in NJ and have an 8 yr old autistic nephew, his mother's (my sister's) best friend from highschool, also in New Jersey has a severely autistic 4 yr old son. Another two long time friends of mine in Staten Island have an autistic daughter, and another friend an autistic son. So, when you talk to all these people and question the past family history and that of their spouses, going back generations - there was not one person with these problems, or behaviors in any of our families. Head banging, self injury, non- verbal - these are not subtle things that would go unnotice or undiagnosed. Something is happening that is causing this epidemic. There is an OBVIOUS increase in our communities of children severely affected by autism. Growing up, I didn't know one child, friend, cousin, friend of a friend etc with anything like this. So I don't buy the theory of better diagnosing. I think its something to do with our environment and increase in vaccines and the crap thats in them.
