Guest guest
I was at a shop with the twins and ran into a woman with a five year old boy who had the same rare name as our son. The two boys looked alike as well. But as soon as she realized that my son couldn't speak fluently, she looked appalled and couldn't get away fast enough. Her upper lip crinkled in distaste. Maybe she had a sudden attack of gas but it appeared to be just typical distanciation. Can't have her boy associated by name or anything else with a " defective " . As she walked off with her hip peruvian hat and her long-haired hippy boy, I wondered if she was hip enough to avoid vaccinations. Seemed like the type. I wondered whether, if this was so (theoretically), if she knew WHY and how she might have the information to know better in the first place, because this information only exists because it was built on the bodies of injured children who came before. Of course there's always just the traditional homeopathic avoidance of vaxes for some or Christian Science traditions, but most who avoid the vaccines do so because they know something could go wrong. Do the people who decided to avoid vaxes for their children sometimes have hubris towards families with injured children, like " Tsk, we knew better, why didn't you? " I for one want to say thanks myself because we would have had no clue of what had happened to our kids or what to do about it or to stop vaccinating if it hadn't been for the people who sweat blood into the movement before us. Sorry if that sounds hokey but I'm sincere.
