Guest guest
OK, I just sent them this e-mail. Dear Ms. , My family has primary immune deficiencies and autoimmune reactions to mercury--not in one member, but in multiple persons whose medical doctors were not even in contact with one another for decades. I went to my grandson's prenatal visit with his pediatrician to inform her that I have Common Variable Immunodeficiency with IgA deficiency (279.06) and that care should be taken regarding the child's health because this is known to be genetic. In spite of this, he was immunized at age 12 months with the varicella vaccine. The manufacturer, Merck, states on their package insert that it should not be given to children with immune deficiencies in the family, but the AAP's policy was that this was acceptable if it was " only " a humoral immune deficiency. Of course, the risk/benefit ratio is skewed badly for children who cannot produce antibodies in response to vaccines! Shortly after his varicella vaccine he developed a high fever which was diagnosed as RSV (without any proof). Then by 13 months he lost eye contact, the nascent speech, and joint attention, all of which were present at 9 months. Later he was diagnosed as having high functioning autism. Interestingly, 3 years and 3 weeks after the vaccine was given, he came down with shingles on the cervical dermatome and atypical pneumonia and was treated with acyclovir, an anti-viral medication. His speech articulation, according to his speech therapist, then became suddenly age appropriate. is recovering now, not with behavioral but with medical treatment. Like me, he also has celiac disease, so he is on a gluten- free diet. We have recently had some good success with auditory integration therapy to undo the effects of the varicella on his auditory processing. He has not been able to attend public school due to overwhelm and sound sensitivity, but he has superior intelligence. Please do not insult the intelligence of the persons who are objecting to your policies regarding vaccines. We know whereof we speak. I am 63 and had measles, chickenpox and mumps all in first grade. My mother had measles spinal meningitis as a five year old and is now 86 years old and healthy and independent. I am considering taking my grandchild ONLY to my D.O. who is NOT a member of your organization. If parents start to boycott members of the AAP, perhaps they will listen. Right now they are not listening to us. I won't bother telling you about how several members of our family produce positive ANAs with a nucleolar pattern and developed lupus in response to mercury exposure, just like the lupus-prone mice. You probably would not understand. And I have to say, if pediatricians immunized only those children who did not have a family history of autoimmunity and primary genetic immune deficiencies, our family would perhaps be safer. But at present, no one is safe with the number of vaccines being given. So go ahead, drag up your tragic stories of children damaged by childhood diseases. Be sure not to tell anybody that the diseases might be more harmful when the previous generation were all vaccinated and did not pass on any immunity to the natural strains of viruses by breastfeeding. Be sure not to tell anyone either that the mortality rate from these diseases had already dropped sharply because of better nutrition and hygiene before some of the vaccines were introduced. But do not expect us to deny what we already know. And we will tell the next generation. Sincerely, Kathleen E, PhD, Cornell University I am sorry that I cannot sign my full name, because I need to protect my grandchildren from attack by the medical establishment. That is a sad statement about the state of affairs.
