Guest guest
Hi Kay, Landon started speech therapy at 14 months adjusted age 12 months. The ST said that he is right on target for now and we could wait. I told her that I wanted to start as soon as possible. I felt like we had wasted some time. I also know that language develops so quickly and eventhough he is on target for now that could always change. If he does change in the future, I don't want to have to make up lost time. I think different professionals have different opinions. We were told to start speech therapy at a year because it would overlap with what the O.T. was doing. He has had O.T. since the first week of life. They start that in the NICU. I personally think that seven months is a good time to start and not too late. After reading some discussion about this topic in previous posts, I was really upset because we waited until a year. It didn't seem to matter in the long run. but if I had to do it over again, I would have definitely had an evaluation done earlier. BTW, thanks for you input regarding the workshop. You brought up some good points. mom to Landon(DS) and Ashton - 17 months -- " Tiernan, Kay " <kay.tiernan@...> wrote: > , > > Our EI experience has been real good.
