Its somewhat hard for me to remember but as I recall i used to give them a

bottle and rock them. Once they were off the bottle for the most part they had

water in a bottle or a sip it cup and I rocked and read to them. then I put them

down. Greyson was pretty good about playing in the crib. didn't for a long

time and I would rock him till he was asleep and that went on for a long time.

but I do remember letting them cry for a bit. Usually I couldn't take it very

long and I would go in and pat their backs and tell them they would have to lie

down. Actually that was one of the first things tthat i realised that

understood me completly cause he would lie down if i told him to. I also

remember one dreadful night that wouldn't stop crying and I was so

exhausted that I went in and told him I was to tired and I needed his help and I

wasn't comming in again that he would have to go to sleep by himself and to my

utter astonishment he did just that. So never underestimate any child's

comprehension. Greyson did cry some nights and it seemed endless and Drew and I

would take turns going in but not picking him up and finally it worked. It was

weird sometimes once they got into the routine of putting themselves to sleep

and if one was restless then the other ones cries actually soothed the other

one. It also helped tremendously to have the cribs close by so they could

interact and both loved mirrors in the crib and one sone side we have a window

that they can look out of. Hope this helps.
