Guest guest
Gail, We are still working on that. Landon won't take a cup. Ashton sees his bottle and cries. Mommy gives in( pretty bad mommy). I am still working on bottle cup transition with them; however, Ashton drinks from a cup more and more. Now that Landon is sitting and not throwing himself back, I feel that he will drink from a cup better. My pediatrician told me I could keep them on the bottle until two. After that, he has a problem with it. At this point, I have a problem with it. I don't want it to ruin their teeth. This is a trying area at our house so I am very interested in this survery. - mom to Landon(DS) and Ashton - bottle drinkers at 19 months --- GVanHouten <rjvh@...> wrote: > Hi Ladies! > OK, our speech therapist " would like " Tara{and } > off the bottle by > 12 mos! Guest guest
By the way - in addition to my last message.....on and had bottles until they were 2 and have perfect teeth! Doesn't drinking from a bottle give the facial muscles a work out??? Not as hard to get milk or fluid as breastfeeding, but certainly it must help exercise the muscles in the face used in speech?? Guest guest
Carolyn...you're a gal after my own heart. I have become remarkably good at finding reasons for everything I do relateable to some form of therapy, ie: oh yes, I need to buy this toy because it will work Maggie's fine motor skills....I do it all the time. Guest guest
I'd say the only prob w/ bottle is @ night. Dont let them drink milk or juice @ night. most kids its a habit to carry it around...so once you break that , then work @ night time. and for that you got to be firm. kids wont sleep well if used to using bottle to sleep. so a few restless nights...I had to use me to get Denton to sleep. now he uses the cat! --- Huckabee <ahuckabee@...> wrote: > Gail, > > We are still working on that. Guest guest
How do I get them to sleep, in the same room? I really want to " let them cry it out " but I just don't see how to make it happen. I was so much braver with my son. He was going to sleep all on his own by 12 months and sleeping thru the night. Guest guest
Me too !! I buy everything with a purpose in mind which is great!!! I have a cupboard FULL of toys that stimulate this or that (for the kids silly!!!). Therapists don't bother to bring anything with them anymore because it's all right here! I have to sneak new stuff in and pretend we've had it forever so Tony doesn't completely lose it with me!!
