Guest guest
Something strange happened to my e mail, and all the mail from the list was arriving in duplicate and triplicate. (How appropriate, for this group). They also came one day late. So I've been catching up, enjoying all the gorgeous children's pictures, following with special interest the thread on feeling blue. Man, I've had my bouts with that. I figure with the combination of multiples, down syndrome, holiday expectations, school vacations, the shortness of the days, that the stress levels are super high. This can cause depression for me. I too, am years into the DS thing, so I feel like with each passing year, the strengths are finally gaining on the setbacks. We've had a tough week, with news that Danny has Atlanto-Axial Instability (he's 6). We had him X Rayed at age 2 1\2 and he was normal, so this was lousy news. His strength has always been his motor skills, and the thought of having to slow him down makes me angry. He's a wild man, a born athlete, and very imitative. But, we'll manage. It could be worse. So, time to count the blessings - this has been one of few problems we've had. My faith helps me a lot, too, Marcia. And if necessary, antidepressants! Actually, seriously, when the boys were about eight months old, I did become clinically depressed. It was postpartum depression, and happened around this time of year. But everything worked out O.K. I think if I'd had a support group like this, it may have staved it off a bit. Isolation can make you climb the walls. There definitely is no shame in taking medication if it helps you. And if it helps you, it improves your kid's lives, too. I may try to make it to chat tonight. But I've got to see if Niles tells Daphne he loves her at nine o'clock and I can't miss E.R. at ten! What can I say? MUST SEE TV By the way, what happened to the Rosie O'Donnell Show? Jean Mom of n and Danny (ds) ages 6 1/
