Guest guest
Sending from the The Philadelphia-Area Science Writers Association website http://www.paswa.org/what/?p=42 This just in! With all the recent hullabaloo about vaccines and autism, the provocative title from the lin Institute’s press release frightened me for a moment: Should the Government Make You Do It? Vaccine Mandates and Children Sounds ominous. I mean, who wants to be mandated to do anything? But they have a smart crowd assembled to take on the discussion. (If you can’t tell, I side with the science and not the panic. Not a PASWA policy statement, just me — Greg) Moderated by Associate Editor of the Editorial Board of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Timpane, featured panelists include Arthur L. Caplan, Ph.D, Director of the Center for Bioethics at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine; A. Offit, MD, Chief of Division of Infectious Diseases at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Eddy Bresnitz, MD, MS, Deputy Commissioner/State Epidemiologist for the State of New Jersey; and Frederic Bertley, Ph.D, Vice President of the Center for Innovation in Science Learning at The lin Institute. These are just the sort of people you want in front of the public to speak in plain, yet passionate, language on the topic. If you have any lingering worries about whether you should vaccinate your children, I’d urge you to attend. If you are dead-set opposed to vaccines, I’d also encourage you to attend. Wednesday, March 26th at 7:00 PM in lin Theater at the lin Institute. Tickets are free, but call for reservations: 215.448.1254.

Guest guest
Oh he absolutely IS. I'd never be able to sit there without responding. I'm sure the room will be PACKED with people who sit there agreeing with him. Can't imagine them allowing this dog and pony show if they even considered that the audience would be packed with parents and those opposing vaccines. See my previous post from Medscape talking about MMRV and febrile seizures. I'm considering printing that out and bringing it to their little pow wow. Wonder how they'll spin that one????
