Guest guest
I am sorry to say this one shocks me. Out of all the pharma companies, Novartis is THE most socially responsible. They pulled TAVIST immediately when the pseudodrine scare started. I was on their consumer sales force at that time. It was absolutely critical that we got our message out there and that all samples were pulled from offices and pharmacies. They pulled the vapor patch when someone whispered that a child could eat/swallow it. They are usually very responsive to the public and interested in their fears, thoughts and opinions. Out of the several companies I was employed by, this was THE one I never thought I would see involved in this crap. Guess you never can tell. The lawsuit, which was filed earlier this week in federalcourt in Los Angeles, says several studies have shown deaths andserious injuries linked to over-the-counter remedies, Reuters reports. As a result, Novartis "either knew…or reasonably should have knownthat their cough and cold products were ineffective and dangerous whenused by children under the age of six," the lawsuit states, accordingto Reuters. A Novartis spokeswoman had no comment, but did say this isthe first to bring claims involving the children's meds. The lawsuitwas brought by , who last year dosed her 4-year-old sonwith Triaminic Daytime Cough & Cold, but it wasn't clear whether orhow the drug hurt her son. Her attorney couldn't be reached, Reuterswrites.Last October, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, a tradegroup representing OTC drugmakers, said overdoses of oral infant coughand cold medicines have led to death and serious injury in rareinstances, but the group stressed that the medications are safe whenused as directed. An FDA panel recommended that OTC cough and coldmedicines that contain decongestants and antihistamines should comewith new instructions saying they are not for very young children.=Sophiahttp://justamom2three.blogspot.com/ Never miss a thing.
