Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, Actually, grizzly bears (brown bears) in Alaska are known to be more aggessive than black bears here in the Northwest--We all kept assuring one another that they are as afraid of us as we are of them, so unless a mama with cubs feels threatened (and we as Mom's all know how that is), it is not common for black bears to be aggressive towards us; There were rattlesnakes, as well, where we were; however, we didn't see one...on the one-mile hike we took after dark, one night to go to a hot springs, I was constantly aware that we could see one; anyway, it must be nice to be out in the woods where you live and not have to worry about critters that could be dangerous. I hope your girls are all better--I am not looking forward to sick season here, which usually begins about the time school does. When does your summer vacation begin?
