Guest guest
I found this on another DS board. I thought I would pass it along. ~, moma to (DS) & Sloan {2 1/2} ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm writing to all of you today to ask you a favor. There is a petition on-line right now that is sponsored by a teen-age boy here in NH who has Down Syndrome. The petition is to convince the President of the United States and the Congress to fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, particularly Part B (Grants to States) at 40% of the average per-pupil expenditure in public elementary and secondary schools in the US as outlined in Sec 611. Currently, the federally funded share is 13%. This amount falls far short of the funds needed to assist States in providing special education and related services to students with disabilities. I am asking you today to go on-line and sign this petition. It is very important that ALL children be given the opportunity for the best education they can receive, and money ALWAYS seems to be the major stumbling block in providing that education. The address to go online to sign is: http://www.ncffi.org/index.htm and then just click on Sign On-Line. Thank you all! Jackie
