Yeah, actually....I am getting close to that time and I can not do the back kicks for anything..I keep losing my balance...normally I can at least do them without practically falling over. I have no idea as to how to correct it though!

balance at That TOM

Ok, guys on the list look out...this is chick talk....I was noticing today that during That time of the month, my balance while doing tae bo is off. My "machine gun kicks" are off, I almsot fall over. My kicks are sort of off center too....messes me up. Has anyone else noticed that? na

Yes. For me, I attribute part of my balance during that TOM to being

bloated. My bloated stomach throws off my balance, LOL.

Elena, who uses balance as another incentive to lose weight in my

stomach

na and Elena,

Thanks for mentioning this! I noticed the balance thing, but didn't

connect it to TOM until I read this post..and now that I think about it

that makes sense. My balance was zilch today and I couldn't figure out

why..I was focused, kept the abs tight and wobbled anyway..lol.

Thanks!

I have noticed this too!!! I realized that for 3 weeks of the month I

would feel really strong, and have great workouts. That one week before

my TOM my balance is always off! kinda strange--but true!!

When shows how to correct your balance - I can't directly look at

someone losing their balance or I lose mine too. I also can't look at

where I am kicking because I can't keep my balance then either (if it

is a side kick). I wish it was only during that TOM (actually, I have

always said I have Tom - a high school thing that has just stuck.

Immature I know.) It has to be my inner ear thing and related to the

dizzy spells. Anyone else have this problem????

I just thought there was something wrong with me, because sometimes I can

get the balance and other times I can't. I thought there was just something

wrong with it, but it does seem to be at that TOM when I have trouble. I

never would have realized it if you didn't mention it.

Hi le!

I have had this when I have a head cold due to fluid in the inner

ear. You might want to try picking a focal point and turning your head

slowly to that point before you kick. This might not work during the

workout because you will be moving faster. But give it a try when you

aren't using the tape. If it isn't an inner ear problem then it does

help to pick focal points on each side of you when you are doing some

of the moves where you are turning in different directions.

explains this better in one of the tapes, but I can't remember which

one..a sure sign of using too many tapes. ;) Maybe one of the

tapes? If so, , Help! :)

either; it is contagious, I think. Balance is one of the most difficult and

challenging parts of taebo. Whenever I get to the " balance sections " on AL1,

AL3, and especially AL4, I get a feeling of dread. I notice that even the

regulars (all except for Shellie, of course), have problems with balance from

time to time. It's just tough. The good news is that it gets easier as you get

stronger and as your form improves. I really concentrate on holding my abs in,

my butt firm, my hips and feet in the correct position, and my chest raised.

Barb had a good suggestion that helped improve my balance: wait until you have

your balance before beginning the kicks or whatever. I used to just jump in to

keep up with the class or the music. Now I concentrate on my form and focus

before attempting any fast movements, e.g., machine gun kicks. I notice that

some of the regulars do the same (even Shellie).

Elena, who tries to look in the direction of the kick most of the time

except when she is particularly shakey or wobbly.

Another good idea from (I mean from ). I'm going to try the

focus point idea (picture someone or thing is there and kick it as

opposed to just kicking air.
