I was a teacher for 15 years and had many special needs children in my class, children with bipolar, aspergers, autism, downs syndrome, etc. I find it appalling that the principal did not call you, even after the fact. That is inexcusable! A parent should be called immediately when anything out of the ordinary happens. You need to insist on timely communication. My son's teacher and I e-mail each other regularly. I know I can contact him at any time just to give him a heads up on how things are going at home. Meet with the principal and teacher to create some sort of system for communicating.
