Guest guest
Vitamin B6 Intake Linked to Reduced Risk of Colorectal Cancer " Dietary vitamin B6 intake and the risk of colorectal cancer, " Theodoratou E, Farrington SM, et al, Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev, 2008; 17(1): 171-82. Summary: In a case-control study involving 2,028 hospital-based cases and 2,722 population-based controls, dietary and supplementary intakes of vitamin B6 were found to be significantly inversely associated with colorectal cancer risk (odds ratio: 0.77), in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, meta-analysis of existing studies found an inverse association between vitamin B6 and colorectal cancer as well (combined relative risk: 0.81, combined odds ratio: 0.67). The authors conclude, " Evidence from larger cohort and experimental studies is now required to confirm and define the anticarcinogenic actions of vitamin B6 and to explore the mechanisms by which this effect is mediated. " 's note: The No Observed Adverse Effect Level for Vitamin B6 is 200 mg per day. The Lowest Observed Adverse Effect Level is 500 mg per day. I take 200 mg per day, sometimes 300 on high stress days.
