Guest guest
A positive side to 's scrupulosity/religion OCD? I think maybe so! He's doing better overall than those first horrible weeks. Still a problem daily but depression seems to have lifted too. And, as I think I said in another post, he joined a nearby church and so is attending there and involved with their youth group. (he enjoys the latter too, as he hasn't had a social life yet and everyone there is nice to him) The positives, besides the social aspect, is he's helping around the house! Trying new foods! Helping me out with his grandma (my mom, has dementia, we live with her)! Actually vacuumed (had to teach him how to use the vac cleaner - the AS part of him made that hard). Putting away dishes from the dishwasher. Learned to give the cat its insulin shot so now I'm not the only one who has to be up by 7am to do it, I have a backup. Anyway, there's just been a lot of positives with his wanting to be *good* or feeling like he should do more than just sit and watch TV or whatever and feeling he should help others. I do have 2 more sons, yes, but somewhere along the way all these years we never got around to regular chores (partly grandma didn't want them doing *whatever* in her house...long story. Although gets into cleaning frenzies every so often and can drive me a bit crazy (I've had to retrieve things from the trash - tools, like a screwdriver or other left out and just picks up and throws away instead of putting back where tools go, a part for the chainsaw, important papers...). Back to - just wanted to share a bit of the positive though the negative is still stressing him too and he says he's working on it. (I still catch him praying some, and his food can get cold before he's through with THAT prayer!) Actually it was interesting what he said - that sometimes he just gets fed up with the OCD and does something anyway. Here's to more fed-up-ness!
