Guest guest
Tamara - Get on the waiting list at BOTH places -- then call them DAILY and ask if they have any cancellations that you can take. Call them a couple times a day. Be the world's biggest PAIN IN THE BUTT..... but always be pleasant & respectful. While the squeaky wheel gets the oil, the 'rude' wheel gets nothing ;-) I know how you feel. I went through the same thing with my daughter & trying to find someone, although I must say that my dd had mild symptoms comparatively. It was still horrible to see her suffer with no help. I finally found someone, however not quite what we really should have for her (no ERP and this doc only treats short-term). We're still blessed to have found her. I'm totally serious about calling a couple times per day. Talk to those front office gals so much, they will know you on a first name basis. Call, call, then call again! Get on the waiting lists while you look elsewhere. Good Luck LT
Guest guest
I am wondering what is your situation with your psychiatrist? My daughter has been in the situation of missing a lot of school. She missed about 25 days first semester. Some due to depression and some due to OCD. Have you been in frequent contact with your pdoc? My daughter's always tells us to call if we think anything is unusual. Sometimes he makes med changes over the phone and sometimes he gets us in quickly to see him again if he feels he needs to evaluate in her person again. There is usually a waiting list and will call as soon as something comes open, often the same week. I don't think I would use the emergency room unless you were prepared to have him admitted. My first choice is MGH in Boston, but there is a 3-4 month wait and we would need a referral from an MGH affiliated doctor (his doctor is not affiliated w/ MGH). Guest guest
Tamara, Did you say your son was on Prozac now? I hope I'm not thinking of another post! If he is, it does sometimes take a while to get used to it, or, to a raise in the meds. Maybe you could make him an appt. for tomorrow with his doctor and have him prescribe a new med, just to hold him over till you get in somewhere else.(Perhaps a faster acting med) Is your son anxious? Is he sleeping? I know how hard it is waiting. these doctors think 3 months is not a long wait, but for us, we are just struggling to get through each and every day!! Try to hang in there hugs Judy
