Guest guest
Jax, I have never heard of this being transmitted to an unborn child. Are you saying that you know of a case where this did happen? You wrote, "... and most did not transmit this to their babies.. " Thanks for any details you can provide. I too found myself pregnant almost 5 years after I was infected but I did not know that I had hep c at that time.. I gave birth to a very healthy baby girl who is not infected and is clear.. the only thing you need to be careful of is iron.. but since you are pregnant, your doc should know about your hep c so he can watch your labs for anemia and if you become anemic,, he then needs to check your FERRITIN level BEFORE giving you iron.. Iron is like fuel to hep c and makes it progress faster and can make treatment ineffective if you have iron overload.. Just be very upfront with your ob and things should be just fine.. by the way,, my daughter is 23 years old now.. so it all worked out ok and I know many others who had this virus when pregnant and most did not transmit this to their babies.. once again, welcome to hep central, jaxcorrene <coramoon2@...> wrote: thankyou for your support maybe you can help me. i just found out i'm pregnant. the hep c has never bothered me before. i forget i even have it most of the time until somthing comes up like now. i don't know what i should or shouldn't be eating, taking, or doing. i'm not sure about prenatal drugs what i can and can't have and herbal alternatives. i also wonder if being pregnant will effect ME. i know the baby is pretty safe but what about me? what if i decided to not have the baby could the hep c effect me by that option? auuugh!!! i have so many questions!!!Jackie Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
well ,, maybe I should have clarified it,, there is a 2-5% risk of giving it to your baby, now whether or not that is through the placenta or from the birth experience,, Im not sure, but I think its from the birth experience.. I do know of a couple of women who did give it to their children and they just feel so awfully responsible for that.. I had my daughter 5 years after I was infected and did not give it to her,, I hope that helps to clarify it,, Ill try to find out what I can about it crossing the placenta and see if I can find anything about that,, thanks for asking jaxHunter <us2china2@...> wrote: Jax, I have never heard of this being transmitted to an unborn child. Guest guest
hi guys! thanks for the help, i do know the baby is safe and sound growing inside of me. it is only contracted through the birth canal or c-section and it's the same 4%. that i have to leave up to God. He has this all planned out. I don't know what He was thinking? i do know I wasn't thinking. i trust him because if i don't i'll go crazy. My question was will being pregnant effect my hep c? my liver levels are high now and never were before. i'm waiting for the rest of the results to come back. What do you know about liver cleansing and Milk thistle? can i take that while pregnant? > thankyou for your support maybe you can help me. i just found out i'm > pregnant. the hep c has never bothered me before. i forget i even have > it most of the time until somthing comes up like now. i don't know > what i should or shouldn't be eating, taking, or doing. i'm not sure > about prenatal drugs what i can and can't have and herbal > alternatives. i also wonder if being pregnant will effect ME. i know > the baby is pretty safe but what about me? what if i decided to not > have the baby could the hep c effect me by that option? auuugh!!! i > have so many questions!!!> > > > > > > > > > > Jackie > > ---------------------------------> Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
Correne, Well congrats on being pregnant,,remember that our bodies are wonderfully made and while there IS a risk of your transmitting it to your baby, it is low.. but that being said, please do not think that I am taking it lightly,, I know you are scared,, as anyone in your position would be. When I had my second child, I was totally unaware that I had hep c. As far as doing a liver cleanse or anything else, I wouldnt do anything WITHOUT talking with a doc FIRST.. there are some herbs that can be very dangerous when you are pregnant.. so please DO NOT take anything including Milk Thistle until you talk with someone.. IM a BIG Milk Thistle Advocate but when you are pregnant, I think the less you take, the better... Remember, you WONT be pregnant forever!!! lol,, Im sure that at some point in your pregnancy, you will want to differ with my statement..lol.. But, Please, do not take anything until you talk with someone who KNOWS for sure what is safe for YOU.. everyone is different and what may be ok for someone else might not be for you.. I dont know exactly which labs are high and which ones are not, so take all your info to someone who can sort it out for you.. WE are a great group of ppl here but we are not doctors and even if we were,, its not safe to give out medical advice over the internet without actually seeing a person.. Let us know what you find out,, Im very interested to find out what your doc says about liver cleansing and milk thistle while you are pregnant.. jaxcorrene <coramoon2@...> wrote: hi guys! thanks for the help, i do know the baby is safe and sound growing inside of me. it is only contracted through the birth canal or c-section and it's the same 4%. that i have to leave up to God.
