about 3 mos into td dmps, my son developed a little rash (i assume detox rash). his "regular" ped said it was eczema. whatever.... it cleared by itself quickly. no problem since and we have been chelating 6 mos now.

now, with the valtrex, first time my son took (he was about 4 yrs old) it took three tries. first two tries was such horrible reactions, had to stop. we waited a bit (in meantime, used famvir), and third time worked a charm for us. in the beginning, saw really good things with valtrex. was really hitting the viruses hard. my son was on valtrex almost three yrs. we weaned him off when we changed protocols.

fast forward to now, my son is 9 yrs old. started valtrex again about 4 mos ago with no problems what-so-ever.

Hi Vicki,What developmental changes and/or rashes did you see during the Valtrex and Famvir. You mentioned the rashes a bit, but please elaborate. Thanks.- Stan

the first go round with valtrex and famvir when my son was younger, there were boosts cognitively. no rashes. second time around, my son got two marks on the back of his legs near the knee area. one of his therapists noticed first. she thought it was ring worms cause it was slightly raised and round. a little red only. didnt appear to bother my son though.

i took my son to his "regular" ped who said it was not ring worms but ecxema. note: i began using valtrex AFTER chelating for a few months. one parent whose child is chelating said it was a "detox" rash. the rash only lasted a few weeks and then gone. i have not seen it sense.

Where you on an antifungal when you had the rash?- Stan

my son has almost always been on some sort of antifungal, rx or "natural". he is currently on diflucan but, when the rash was present, he was taking a variety of antifungals: uva ursi, GSE, pau de arco.

i kinda lean towards the detox rash from the chelating.
