Guest guest
Hi Listmates; Quick thank you to all the folks who took the time from their holiday weekend to email info on obtaining the S/P book. I've ordered my copy already. Thanks again! Deborah
Guest guest
Wow, you guys have really made me feel better! I want to thank you all for that. And the encouragement I am getting here is unbelievable! I can see that there is life after getting DX'd. I have not seen the Rhumey(sp?) yet but I am to go on the 22nd. I went back to see my regular doctor and he asked me to please lower my dosage of Prednesone from 20mg to 10mg. I told him that I was really scared to do that but I would try. I started yesterday only taking 10mg. I was ok for most of the day (btw, I had started having really good days and would only wake up stiff and sore in the mornings) and when I woke up this morning, I was extremely stiff and in pain. I told my hubby that I was going to go for about a week like this, but if it did not change I was going on 10mg in the morning and 10mg in the evening. My doctor told me that if it got too bad to try it that way. I am not real sure I want to stop taking the 20mg until I see the specialist. I took the 10mg about an hour ago and have only had some slight relief. It took me 3 hours yesterday on the 10mg to get any relief at all. But my back was sore to touch all day yesterday. Does anyone get skin pain since they were DX? I can't sometimes stand to rub my skin as it hurts. Well, I am going to go and try to get some chores done to see if my moving around will help to get rid of some of the pain. I really never thought that my chores would be so hard to get done as they are now. I took so much for granted when I was well. I don't now! Take care everyone and hoping that today is a good day for all! Dana
Guest guest
Dana, Be very careful of dropping from 20 to 10 mg of Prednisone at once. I would urge you to go from 20 to 18mg for a week or so then drop a few more mg for another week. My Doc tried to do the same with me and I was only taking 7.5 mg daily and was doing OK. At the end of ten days I was in the worst flare I've ever had and now can't get under 20mg of Prednisone a day. MY Rheumy is going to decrease me by 1 to 2 mg over a three week period (20 to 19mg for 3 weeks, then 18 mg for three weeks, etc.). I'm not a doctor but I know what happens if you drop your dosage to fast. Also, taking Prdnisone twice a day makes it harder for your body to rid itself of the toxins. That is why they want us to take it only once a day. Good luck and God Bless, Jay > Wow, you guys have really made me feel better! I want to thank you > all for that.
