Guest guest
That sounds much like the start of RA for me but it could be many other things so you are doing the right thing by going to a rheumatologist. You need to learn as much as you can about RA and the medicines for it. A couple of sites I like with a lot of general information are http://www.arthritisinsight.com/medical/disease/ra/ra.html and http://www.arthritisinsight.com/medical/meds/ and you might get some quick relief with Prednisone. However, Prednisone does not slow down or stop the permanent joint damage and it has some bad side effects. I was started with 40 mg Prednisone daily and after several DMARDs (and a year and a half) I am now usually off Prednisone but use a little when things get bad. I don't use chat rooms but there is one on the Arthritis Insight web site. I do follow the message board at http://www.arthritisinsight.com/cgi-bin/wsmbb/wsmbb.cgi?SB+KYWRJLLXVS/AKFCLKZQUN+config Good luck, God bless, and keep us posted. Hi,I am 34 and just found out I have RA. I do not feel well at all. I go see a doctor who just deals with arthritis Wednesday. I think I am depressed or feel like I am. I wake up every morning stiff and not wanting to even get up. I just went through a bunch of female problems and had surgery the first of the year, I was really sick for two years before that so I am not so happy hearing I have this. I was feeling great better than I have in so long, hurt once in a great while until a month ago. I hurt everyday now, stiff every morning and feeling like I have no life inside of me. My hands, elbows, knees, lower back, hips and my ankles, feel like I do not have a place now that does not ache. Does anyone have that feeling in the body, can't really think of a word for it, just feeling of bla. I don't know how bad it is right now but I sure feel bad. I am scared, I have three 13 year olds and the last month or so I have not done much of anything with them. I know they are thinking not again we just got you back from the last time you was sick. I feel so bad for them, I just can't get up and go. I walk I hurt, I sit I hurt and lay down I hurt. I have pain meds but I only take them at night so I can sleep until I go to this doctor. I am just having trouble taking in what I have found out and its hard. Has anyone gone through this or feels like I do? Do you all chat? If so when? Having a hard time dealing.........ThanksMarilyn

Thanks for posting those sites, they have great information! About the Prednisone, it has some very serious side effects and should only be taken as a last alternative. I have personal experience with close friends and family members taking this and having worse side effects than the original symptoms. Make sure you are informed about anything your doctor perscribes BEFORE you have the perscription filled and that the side effects aren't going to make your life worse. You don't have to take something just because your doctor told you to, it is your job to inform you doctor of what you believe to be the best course of treatment for you (not his general course of action for all of his patients who may not be like you). -- Kara Hoover Check out my website! I know that when I got my diagnosis (Fibromyalgia) it was scary and also a relief because I knew that something was wrong and now I could identify it and research it. I have had arthritis since I was about 11, but the other symptoms were starting to scare me because I'm also in my early 30's (32). You can get some really good information and support from this group and others. I encourage you to spend as much time as possible researching your treatment options and always opt for the most natural one because you don't want to end up with your body being even worse 20 years from now just from you meds. I also have the problem with the body aches, stiffness, and general pain every day. It can be so draining and hard to explain to your family. Which, by the way, how do you have 3 13 year olds? I have an 11 1/2 year old, 10 year old, and 2 1/2 year old. I try to push myself to be upbeat and do things with them in spite of the pain, or discomfort because before I know it they will be gone. One thing I have found to really help with this problem is an herbal muscle massage that I have been using which is very long lasting. If you, or anyone else would like to try a free sample, I would be happy to share some with everyone. Just email me privately so we don't clog up the list. Keep your chin up and keep seeking out information and support from those of us who have the same problem. That will help keep the burden off of your family who doesn't really understand anyway. -- Kara Hoover Check out my website!
