Guest guest
You don't say if the Medrol helped you even a little. If it did, you probably need more Prednisone or something like that. I would ask the GP if he/she can get you into the rheumatologist earlier. I'm sorry but I don't have any other suggestions. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: sadlymistaken35 Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Friday, October 03, 2003 8:12 AM Subject: ADVISE PLEASE! HI, My name is DANITA, and I just wanted to ask everyone for advise, and thank all of you for the posts and e-mails, they keep me going and teach me so much. My problem is this; I finally got an appt., with a RHEUMY for next month on the 21st, seems he is the only one in the local area so it is taking awhile. I called my GP two weeks ago and told her that I could not stand the pain any longer,( and that is coming from a woman that has had 4 children and no pain meds), so my pain tolerance is high. She gave me a RX for MEDROL DOSEPAK 4MG which was for 6 dys., and an RX for PERCOCET 5-325MG. This is it, I am in so much pain now that I can hardly move my neck, sit,( because of my knee pain) and I have no stength in my hands. I have another appt., with GP., today. It seems like I have to beg for meds., what should I do? Everyone I know has always said they think I am a very strong person, that has been through alot and came through ok, but I don't think I can stand this much longer. Hands are killing me I know this is long, forgive me I just needed to vent I guess. THANKS AND GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU. Guest guest
I would ask your GP to try and get you in with the Rheumy sooner and bug the Receptionist at the Rheumy to call you or you call her daily and see if they had a cancellation. The GP doesn't seem to know much about this condition. Absolutely, Insist that you must have some relief now. The GP can be running tests to see why you are in this much pain in multiple places so the Rheumy won't have to wait for test results. -----Original Message-----From: sadlymistaken35 [mailto:sadlymistaken35@...]Sent: Friday, October 03, 2003 11:13 AMRheumatoid Arthritis Subject: ADVISE PLEASE!HI, My name is DANITA, and I just wanted to ask everyone for advise, and thank all of you for the posts and e-mails, they keep me going and teach me so much. Guest guest
The idea is that the drugs you take should either stop or control the progress of the disease and prevent joint damage. I think that a good rheumatologist will act very agressively so that the damage to your joints will be stopped - and by agressively I would expect more than NSAIDs but not prednisone unless he really feels nothing else will work fast enough. It has always been my understanding that because of the side effects people keep mentioning it is a very unpopular choice as in addition to all the previously mentioned problems with it, it weakens your bones. Here is a suggestion for something you could do. The most basic widely used nsaid is aspirin. You could take as much aspirin as you can tolerate every day. For me it is 9 of the 325 mg strength (I'm about 140 lbs). As this builds up you will begin to get an anti inflammatory effect. Tylenol and Advil are not anti inflammatories, only pain killers and have no effect on the disease, only the pain (we hope). This is if you can't see the rheum. sooner than the 21st though I agree the sooner the better for you. When I had my first problems with arthritis this is what my GP told me to do. He suggested 10 aspirins a day and it made me have a ringing in my ears. He said if the aspirin worked he would know better what the problem was. He was so offhand and did not explain that the anti inflammatory effect would help him with a diagnosis. This made me switch to another GP who was no help really - he just kept prescribing a stronger nsaid as my joints kept getting more swollen, red and painful. I was too tired to even eat dinner at the end of a day. Guest guest
Danita, I hope you got meds to help you until your visit with a rheumy. Stick to your guns and tell them you have to have help with this. It is our right to be as painfree as possible and it is very sad that we have to beg for this. Good luck, L ----- Original Message ----- From: sadlymistaken35 Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Friday, October 03, 2003 8:12 AM Subject: ADVISE PLEASE! Guest guest
I suggest that you use Ibuprofen, that is an anti-inflammatory. I don't know which one specifically, regarding dye or other items that might cause a reaction but there is probably a good choice available. Neil [ ] Re: Advise please! If you need to use something for pain, dye free Motrin would be the best thing in my opinion. Tylenol is hard on the liver and I have also read that it inhibits glutathione production. Guest guest
you might want to check out the use of physiological doses of cortisol. *Safe Uses Of Cortisol*, by Jefferies explains that cortisol eliminates arthritis. It's been known for decades. The doses that were employed early on were too high - pharmacological doses... hth, .... I hope he feels better soon+++ > > > > Thanks , We've been seeing, for years, different types of behavior that I now think are associcated with chronic pain...when he was gluten-free they were less and many people I know directly attribute SIB (self injurious behavior) to the opiates in gluten and other's contribute health issue to it as well. I thought I was using enzymes successfully but I'm rethinking that. His SIBs have always been at the ankles, knees, elbows, shoulders and head (the head was early on with reoccuring ear infections then became a tool for attention...you know, the old 'mom runs over here when I bang my head and I need her right now so...' he'd bang his head and I'd come running -- BAD ABA on my part). But there was such a significant shift in his behavior after taking the crushed up Motrin that I am really interested in knowing what I can give long term...of course, the diet is back on to see if I'm nuts or not. I'm hoping detoxing will continue to give me insights. But thanks for the thoughts...his behavior has been on going it's just this was the first time I " got " it. He's been communicating for a looooong time and I just haven't understood.
Guest guest
My son told me (on his comuputer) that he had aching joints for years and years and years and approximately six months after we started chelating, they were completely gone. So, if you're chelating, keep at it. He thanks me for chelating him so many times because his body is in so much less pain.
