Guest guest
What wonderful news Sharon!!! Congratulations on such a special milestone! Charlotte From: Autism and Aspergers Treatment [mailto:Autism and Aspergers Treatment ] On Behalf Of Sharon Sent: Monday, July 03, 2006 5:48 PM Autism and Aspergers Treatment Subject: spoke to me!! is nonverbal but she did something today that she has never done before! We were in the pool and she put her face up against mine and said mama and she laughed. It was so wonderful to hear her speak even if I cant get her to say it again. I know she can talk but for some reason she just wont. She seems to be more aware of things when she is in the pool and soooo calm. Shes so tired after playing in the water today that I think she will have no trouble sleeping tonight. (wishful thinking?) She slept much better last night but refuses to sleep in her bed, She wants to sleep on the couch. I try to take her to her bed but she goes right back to the couch. Im not sure if I should be concerned about this or not because I figured that as long as she will sleep it doesnt matter where as long as we all get some rest. She started using the PECS system last year and since then has really noticed magazines and loves picture books. We have tried sign language but she was unable to catch on to it. Guest guest
Sharon, this is great. Maybe if you guys get into the pool again she'll talk to you some more. My son Avery is verbal but he does not express his wants and needs very well we are working on this both at home and at school. The first time he called me mama I cried and he has not said it to me since. He will tell someone if they ask him who I am most of the time he will say Hope but most of the time he says mom or mama.
