hi we have been doing valtrex since easter weekend so almost 3 months

and just turned 10 this week. we have seen a slight lessening of

absence seizures on this medication and will see the neurologist soon

to do a new eeg. some seizures are from infection or inflamation so

this could have been the case for your girl and the valtrex would

address that issue and possibly prevent further events in the future.

Hi,

I'm new to the list. My child is also 10 years old. Did you see a lot of

regression with your child? Has there been

anyone on this list that has a child fully recovered who was 10 when he

recovered?

Thanks for responding

>hi, we were considering our oldest son mostly recovered at about 6.5

years old so while going full force into biomed for the younger boy we

discussed trying valtrex for the older son. mostly b/c of the

discriptions from stan of the viral soft signs plus the coldsore

issues we were having we wanted to know if there was something to help

the fine motor and hand strength issues that still hinder him. a bit

of progress in this area but it so far has seemed to help speech

receptively as in, i feel his conversations are now age appropriate

and his understandings of feelings and the non concrete stuff that

goes on in our social world. this i was not expecting and didnt feel

he was lacking or that far behind but what a change... another suprise

is the seizures lessening and even though he has been functioning well

for 4 years i have been over protective, not sure if he would be okay

without me around so therefore have always gone to the park, play

dates, his ball games etc. last week he went alone, well with his

cousin 11yrs old and a budd to the park and all ball season i was far

off at the park or taking a walk with his brother. it is like he grew

up 2 years in the last 3 months. we saw no reggression in functional

levels, a few emotional days here and there, a few rashes and fever

but no decrease in any area. i wonder how long to keep at it though as

stan says at the plateau, so hard to tell now. i think we will go

through summer at least and we are now trying to decide for younger to

start. i posed the question if anyone thinks prior chelation has an

improved effect on how well the valtrex works but havent seen any

responses yet as this is my biggest curiousity in planning next steps.

as for children recovering at 10 yrs old im not sure but we have not

done biomed for 4 years before this and are seeing great things so no

reason if the combination of things are right that it couldnt

happen.
