Guest guest
I added a fluency time based drill last week. We use mastered noun flash cards and a timer. I set the timer for 30 seconds and tell him " go fast " . He reads the cards as fast as I can flip them, actually I think I'm the problem now First time he got 10 cards in 30 seconds after 1 week of practicing only 2-3 times a day he did 25 cards in 30 seconds. Our goal was 50 in 1 minute. So I am going to build endurance to 60 seconds now. The reason for this drill is to increase word retrieval speed and to insure he maintains the words he knows. My son is 4.6 and is a consistent 1 word mander, we are working hard to get multi-word sentences beyond " I want xxx " Is anyone else doing this type of fluency drill? Of course we do all kinds of other things in our program. just a mom
