Guest guest
Dear List, Most of you have very little kids, although some are close to Isaac's age. We're in the minority I think. Sometimes I am fatigued beyond measure, and I wonder if this autism game plays on and on, and if I will ever get an especially good hand. Last year, tomorrow actually, Isaac came from residential school, and next month had neuro-surgery, and we continued on, starting a very intense home program full time, and we've seen some tremendous gains, relatively speaking. It isn't recovery. It isn't even impressive if you think about his age, but when you think about where he has been, where he could be had things continued down hill, I am happy. And I am happy to share this poem I wrote for Ize, a tradition of mine for a few years now. Thanks for sharing him with me. Happy 13 to Isaac D. Ten times, add three How I've loved your face Tracking words that fly like birds, I welcome your embrace To see your hair, silky light, turning dark as the night to see your face once round and fat to learn your soul, Imagine that, Imagine that Blessed I, thirteen times wanting, wishing to read your mind struggling to hear and see feeling, deaf, feeling blind And blind, you teach me braille, you share the tools so I won't fail The perfect boy I touch your brow I loved you then I love you now In spite of trials, often hard I know a deeper caring In spite of autism, we've shared a deeper sharing My Isaac, friend, comrade, child Happy birth in the month of May Happy birth Every day
