Guest guest
HI, I was wondering if anyone knows if Vince uses the bucket intervention for behaviors that would include a scenerio like this one. The child is told no he can't have/do something. Or possibly we aren't responding fast enough to suit him. He runs off screaming and does one of several possibilities. He might hit his head on the floor or wall, hit himself in his chest with his fist, hit something else into the wall. Note that he isn't actually hurting himself or anyone else when he does this - some times he just sort of 'aims' or 'gets ready' to hit his head somewhere. All of the above involve lots of screaming, running, etc. We have tried ignoring him and we have also tried intervening at the lowest level possible - not at the same time of course. I was wondering if the bucket of blocks aversive used at the very beginnning of these outbursts, with of course, an altenative behavior being taught might work? Has anyone used it for this reason. Also if anyone has a good way to teach wait, please let me know. Thanks, mailto:macko420@...
