My name is . I've been on the group for a little while,

just haven't had much time to reply or post new.

I have a six year old son, , High Functioning Autism. He was

just diagnosed in March, but I guess we knew for a while. Sometimes

it's hard to deal with or admit. When you talk about it with family

and friends, it's always, " he can't be, he's too loving, he's so

outgoing, he does this, he doesn't do that.... " type thing that keeps

you standing on the outside of the diagnosis. He is a very

affectionate child, always has been. He is doing fantastic.

I am at the point now that I am looking for things to do. Things to

help, I just can't stand still. I've heard of herbal supplements for

ASD children, but which ones? And how do you get a child who only

eats at most 10 different items, to take them? I've thought about

looking into the DAN! Protocol and Selective Therapies, as the

insurance calls them. has responded great to Sensory Therapy.

He went from being non verbal til 4 1/2 to non stop, understandable

(most times) talking at 6. Alot has to do with our church and prayer.

is allowed to be who he is at our church and everytime I turn

around, someone is praying over him for strength, healing, and

acceptance from those around him. We are truly blessed.

He's starting a charter school next year, in a normal classroom with

as little seperation as possible. I am nervous. I think he is ready,

but then I worry, and I worry some more. I am a stresser. I don't

know how someone with an Autistic child wouldn't be. He's 100% potty

trained at school, sometimes even at daycare, but not at home, and I

just don't know what to do.

Anyhow, it's just great having groups like this around. Almost

everyday you all give me some other direction to look into.

I've started a Non Profit, slowly, called Completing the Puzzle, Inc.

We say that we want to help complete the puzzle by therapy, financial

support and resources. It's slow going, I still have a lot to learn,

but that's what these groups are great for. I look forward to these

messages everyday.

God Bless.
