how long can a child be on diflucan?

i started my son on diflucan about 3 weeks ago in conjunction with

starting valtrex (actually started valtrex a few days later). i was

just wondering how long he can be on it? i thought i read somewhere

that 21-30 days was the ideal amount of time.

i planned on switching to nystatin after his time runs out on the

diflucan as he's done very well on nystatin in the past. is this a

good idea?? and if so, when should i rotate back to the diflucan?

We stayed on Valtrex and Diflucan (and moved to Nizoral a bit later)

for 9 months.. and stopped when the gains seemed to level off.

Stan,

Do you have any collected info on how long the " big responders "

stayed on the Valtrex? Is there an average like 6-9 months or 9-12

moonths?

We have been on the Valtrex for 3 weeks now with coldlike symptoms,

some regression in behaviors and some yeast. He did hard chamber

HBOT before Valtrex so I am not sure if the HBOT killed the virals

off or if he's got more in there. Since he's got the cold symptoms,

I'm guessing it didn't get them all. But I'm curious if we will

need to be on the Valtrex as long as others since doing the HBOT.

I know these questions may not have answers but just wanted to know

if anyone had some insight.

Hi Tami,

Very good questions... and I can't say I can answer them. We don't

have many reports of Valtrex combined with HBOT. The answer really

depends on your child. Most big gain reports are with people who

use Valtrex for more than 6 months.... but some experience big gains

in a month... but keep going until the child doesn't seem to be

improving from the therapy any longer.

So, I would play it by ear. If you are seeing viral symptoms I

would keep going... if you see gains... I would keep going... if you

see a plateu for an extended period of time... I would consider

changing the therapy.

Not great answers, but we have so few reports of combinding HBOT and

Valtrex (although I believe there are many people who combine the

therapy).
