Hi Not all children need GF and/or CF -- but over 90% do. There is test called the urine peptide test. If there are a high number of gluten or cassein peptides in the urine, then the child can not digest them properly (think leaky gut) and it creates a morphine like effect. My son for example had very high levels of gluten peptides in his urine but not cassein. We have greatly reduced cassein however, because it is my understanding that cassein prevents the body from detoxing. We had stopped mile when he was two (per and ENT because of chronic ear infections). Not only did eliminating milk reduce the violence, but it also stopped the chronic ear infections. The urine peptide test was covered by insurance. If you did not see improvement on the diet it is possible that there were infractions you were not aware of (90% compliance is often not good enough) or other issues like

yeast that could have masked all improvements. I know of recovering children who do not need a special diet, but they are the rare exception. VeraTrish64@... wrote: In a message dated 8/24/2006 7:28:16 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, stankurtzgmail writes: I haven't

I did the GFCF diet for nearly a year with no results. Should I pass on the valtrex then and figure that recovery is not an option for my child?
