Guest guest
the mouth sore thing can be immediately resolved with levocor (or something like that spelling wise) which is a folic acid booster over and above the daily dose while taking folic acid and methotrexate. The sore is a sign that the metho renders your system down towards anemic. Those no. are normally low for me before methotrexate. -----Original Message-----From: Jan Dean [mailto:murdermostcozy@...]Sent: Saturday, October 18, 2003 10:26 AMRheumatoid Arthritis Subject: MTX side effectsLike Harold, I've had few side effects from MTX - used to get a mouth soreonce in a while, but that's about it. When that happened, the RD said toskip the next week's dosage or until the sore went away. I do notice aslowing down the day after I take the MX, but that's a good excuse to lazearound and watch TV., I got a kick out of your "grieving for a nightcap". I would loveto be able to drink a glass of wine every night. I used to relax in the tubwith a glass of sherry, but no more. Of course, I can also no longer getinto a tub easily, so I guess it all balances out. :)JanP.S. I hope I haven't put anyone off by my email address. Murder Most Cozyis the name of the mystery newsletter I publish. I probably should get asecond email address that's non-mystery related. Guest guest
Thanks for your comments and advice, everyone! I took the MTX Saturday night, and feel better today than last Monday. Nausea wasn't as bad either. It's good to know which side effects are likely, and how to treat them (levacor/leucovorin, for example). My rheumy had mentioned a few of those things at my appointment, but I couldn't remember all of them in my haze of newly diagnosed-ness. Again, thanks for your comments! > I think that's Leucovorin but I'm not completely sure. Guest guest
leucovorin is what I was trying to think of. I was just hearing this am on health news that there are several newer medications for treatment of nausea while on chimo (SP). I will ask my Dr. about that. We shouldn't have to suffer if Methotrexate makes us nauseous. -----Original Message-----From: jlind_2002 [mailto:jlind_2002@...]Sent: Monday, October 20, 2003 12:30 PMRheumatoid Arthritis Subject: Re: MTX side effectsThanks for your comments and advice, everyone!
