Guest guest
Hey All~ I went to the hospital and had my liver biopsy today. Apart from the total confusion of finding where to go at the hospital, once I got to the right place, all went amazingly well! I have remained silent during the " wimp " discussion because I am the biggest wimp there is..and I can honestly say that the biopsy was virtually painless. Even the anethesia shot was not too bad. Worst part of it was the worrying beforehand. I have to say, having my fiance rub my feet while they were giving me the shot helped a lot! Of course, prayer helped calm me down and focus me on why I was even there - to find out how damaged my liver is already. The doctor was excellent (I had the procedure at St. Joe's in Orange, CA), he took 3 samples and was done in 15 minutes. They went in through the center of my upper abdomen, not through the side as the procedure is often described on various websites. The doctor explained that the biggest risk was bleeding because the liver is so vascular. Luckily, I didn't experience any. I stayed in recovery for an hour and then they kicked me out, whereupon I immediately visited Starbucks for my 5 shot iced espresso. I know it's not going to be a bed of roses managing this disease, so I am thankfultoday went well. Now, the waiting for the results begins....
