Guest guest
, when my daughter had her TWINS early, she was about 6 months pregnant, she went to the Springhill Memorial. (she had no insurance), they just sent her packing without seeing anyone... blood running down her legs. She went to another (don't know which), same happened. One nurse pulled her husband aside and told them to get to the Childrens & Womens. All the other hospitals treated her as a " miscarry " and just sent her on! You are right about the Chrildrens & Womens Hospital. They are great. Those tiny 1 1/2 lb babies lived! They are now 16 months old, and walking and talking. The hospital is affliated in some way (don't know all details) with the medical University of Alabama. They are up on the newest of new on research and trying things. THey gave these babies something the University had been experimenting with. Seems that most preemies like these die rather quickly, because of a bacteria that gets in their intestines. Something they lack at the early gestation... I am probably saying all this wrong! So I will just say this. They brought them forms to sigh. They (doctors) were so thorough and talked about everything... the good, the bad, etc. of giving the " new meds " in their formula to keep the bacteria in check. They did have to sign something stating they knew it was experimental, and may NOT save their babies lives. But this Hospital is chock full of loving caring doctors and people. I did not agree with some things the did, but I was " informed " somewhat, so I could talk to them about it. Like them wanting to give the Gentamycin past the 5 day limit (after this time, it can cause deftness and blindness). I said something about that, and my daughter made them withdraw this antibiotic. That is what this list is for... LEARNING about how to care for ourselves beyond any advice the doctors may give. And presenting our knowledge of something to these same doctors when we go for checks on meds. Wow... I sure got long winded again! Guest guest
I forgot in my last post, had ask about the Atkins life style. My DR. recommended a low carb high protein diet to help with my depression so I chose Atkins. The first two weeks were great but now for the last four weeks I haven't lost a pound. I am still following the program though as it has helped my depression and has given me somewhat more energy. But the Anima from the RA keeps that low. But Hey any little bit helps. Have a super day!! DeWanda
