Guest guest
Hi! I wanted to respond for a minute to your post. I have a child with autism and a niece and a nephew with autism also. I know that battles and the struggles that are waged trying to get them the help that is needed. There are a lot of places dealing with " imperfect condtions " one of them being where I live. I know that no single canditate running for pres. is going to be able to make things " perfect " for everyone. Not even Gore. He turned his back on the tabacco growers when he said he understood their plight and that he had worked in the fields with them and knew of the struggles they were having and then he turned his back on them. To the farmers they need to grow something, for that is there way of making a living, tabacco or no tabacco, they needed a new direction. They are taxed with an enormous death tax and family farms struggle to keep afloat. To the good citezens who do own guns, legally, he wants to punish them for the cases of abuse of hanguns by taxing and having them list on their 1040 all the hanguns they own with a possible tax of $50.00 a hand gun. I am not a member of the NRA, but believe that that is the same correlation e as if a drunk driver killed someone then all would be punished for that persons lack of responsibility. To the Boy Scouts who Gore is fighting with to try to force them to take the word God out of their oath, and also pressuring people in high positions to make it so they can not choose a leader for the boys based on sexual orientation. I have nothing agains Gays or Lesbians except where it infringes on anothers rights. Forcing this by pressuring the United Way into removing funding for, and for pushing that they not be allowed to use private property until they do so. I do not have a son old enough to be a boy scout yet, but I believe that a private organization should be able to have certain rights as to what they hold to be important to them as an organization. The lions club has no such pressure. You dont have to be a boy scout or a lions club member..you have a choice, if you dont believe as they do, then let them alone, but don't take their rights away. I personally like the idea of getting a tax cut. Both parents in lots of instances are have to work. I would appreciate anything that would help and enable me to stay home with my three kids. I would like to be able to choose how I invest a portion of my retirement. We are self-employed and have to match our Social Security amount, which is costly. I believe that people are empowered by smaller government. More laws stiffle the average citezen. Laws that restrict do not make us free. Where is the the common concern and care one has for another be he stranger or friend? I don't believe that more government programs are going to solve our problems either. direct and teach the people good principles and let them govern themselves. I would like a government that guides and directs but does not control. I know that our children are important, I know the struggles of raising an autistic child, but I think its not only the issue of our children that are at risk. Its good moral principles that others are battling right now too. Each person in every walk of life has a different concern. Who will best address them? To those in the military who defend our country who could be and have been in the trenches of war, whos wifes and children wait for there return I ask, who will best support them? If my son was old enough to be in the Boy Scouts the question of having to alter an oath of allegiance to God and Country having to be changed would be a concern. It's something I personally don't believe they should have to change to accomidate those who don't believe in it, Form your own group to fit what you do believe in. I don't mean to demean your struggles in anyway and appreciate your example of advocacy. I wonder though if life had taken us down a different road, what would it be that we would be advocating for if our weight to carry was any of these other issues? Who is going to best address the issues of a whole nation, not just me singly? If I were a little more computer illeterate I would be able to send the congressional web site for the bill pending on the hand guns and also the facts on the Boy Scouts and the United Way boycotting the Boy Scouts and a struggle at this moment that is taking place, but I struggle with this silly contraption I would be happy to forward them separately though. I'm grateful for a country in which there is choice and I respect yours, but thought I would add my thoughts. Thanks!!
