Guest guest
I have been fighting the muscle loss I had received from the use of Zocor by # 1 - quitting cold turkey four and half years ago all statins completely. # 2 - I went out and bought a pair of Perfect Pushups for $20 at Walmart and also a set of Gold's Gym resistance bands and I have remarkably regained my strength that I had lost. Cost? $30 for both the push up handles and the resistance bands. I have done 225 push ups so far today in sets of 25 while watching the football game. My goal is to do 300 each day in sets of 25. I am also doing crunches and want to get up to 300 a day of them also. The resistance bands are only $10 and they are great. So many exercises can be done with the simple resistance band and they are very portable. Bottom line with exercise the muscles can rebuild and I am feeling stronger than I have in many years... I work on upper body one day and work on abs and lower body the next day. check out this free web site for some exercises and diet plan ... it is great. http://iwantsixpackabs.com/ Ed
Guest guest
Wow, 225 pushups that's awesome... how long did it take you to work up to 225? I've tried to do daily push ups but got discouraged after a while... couldn't get any higher than 15! Sue
Guest guest
Shirley - here is your decision. You have at best a two percent chance of avoiding another heart attack by staying on the statin. On the other hand, if you get off it, your leg may repair itself and you can keep exercising, which will give you a much better than 2 percent chance. Not to mention your attitude and the other benefits of exercise, like getting your hours and life back?! And you need a new doctor. Guest guest
If this was any way related to Frozen Shoulder Syndrome, I had this for 7 months. It was THE most excrutiating time of my life, was like 3rd stage labour but for months on end. I resolved it by taking a homeopathic remedy, Ferrum Metallicum and then later my blood tests came in. I was severly depleted in Vitamin D and magnesium, calcium and zinc. I unfortunately had surgery at the time and am very sorry I let a knife near me.....as I believe the whole thing could have been helped through more exposure to the sun!! :-)) Re: Muscle Loss? Rebuild!!! Hey Ed, it's really great that you are working your way back. Anyway, speaking of muscle loss, my friend, also a 53 year old female, had rotator cuff surgery in July that a second opinion surgeon said was a failure because she has no muscle left to secure the tendon to the bone unless she has a transplanted muscle from another part of her body. The first surgeon had to use some kind of animal material patch, I believe it was from a pig, maybe tendon tissue, to try to repair the first tear. She now has a frozen shoulder and there is still the first tear. Tomorrow she is going to undergo a manipulation under anesthesia, and maybe faces a more complicated second surgery. She has taken 20 mg of Lipitor for high cholesterol for maybe 5 years. She does not remember how high the total was back then or what it was at her last checkup, but I said you really should ask for the numbers and write them down. I believe Lipitor is part of her problem. At least she doesn't have diabetes. Unfortunately, one of her sons works at the local Merck plant in our area, so I don't like to talk down about where he works, but I will never take Zocor, made by Merck, or any other statin. She also had a pain pump device for 3 days following the surgery and I see lawyer's ads for recovering damages caused by these pain pumps, they supposedly destroy the cartilage where they are implanted. Her new doctor says she will never be the same and will have to settle for 80 to 85 per cent recovery of a normal functioning dominant shoulder. I had no idea what statins could do to you until I really started listening to those Lipitor commercials with Dr. Jarvik, you know that rare but serious side effect. As soon as I heard about the statin damage, I told her because I knew she took Lipitor, but I said don't stop taking it unless you take to your doctor first. As far as I know she is still taking it.ConnieI hate statins!!!!!!!!!!!!!>> I have been fighting the muscle loss I had received from the use of> Zocor by> > # 1 - quitting cold turkey four and half years ago all statins completely.> > # 2 - I went out and bought a pair of Perfect Pushups for $20 at> Walmart and also a set of Gold's Gym resistance bands and I have> remarkably regained my strength that I had lost.> > Cost? $30 for both the push up handles and the resistance bands.> > I have done 225 push ups so far today in sets of 25 while watching the> football game.> > My goal is to do 300 each day in sets of 25.> > I am also doing crunches and want to get up to 300 a day of them also.> > The resistance bands are only $10 and they are great. Guest guest
Might that be a sciatica pain if so the homeopathic remedy RHUS TOX helped me with a severe episode last week after a marathon of downhill skiing. It was actually recommended in the package tour material given by the local tourist authorities in France. Re: Muscle Loss? Rebuild!!! Guest guest
Darrel... It wasn't an overkill for me. The next day I expected to be very sore after doing 225... and to my surprise I was not sore at all. I started out doing only 8 or so back on Dec. 2. After 8 I was exhausted. I was adding one more each day till I got up to 25. Then while watching TV I decided to do 25 during each commercial break. I am back to doing 100 each day now and will probably do over 200 again one day over the weekend. I do 25 in the morning when I get up. Another 25 during lunch. Another 25 at the end of the work day and then my final 25 just before going to bed. It works for me! Guest guest
I had huge sciatic pain from taking statins. Just have to stop and let time heal, the body needs to restore the cholesterol to the myelin sheaths surrounding the nerves, especially the sciatic nerve. --- JULIE GRIFFITHS <moppett1@...> wrote: > Might that be a sciatica pain if so the homeopathic > remedy RHUS TOX helped me with a severe episode last > week after a marathon of downhill skiing. Guest guest
stop statins immediately if you get any of these muscle/nerve pains. --- JULIE GRIFFITHS <moppett1@...> wrote: > If this was any way related to Frozen Shoulder > Syndrome, I had this for 7 months.
