Okay gang, my hubby is doing fairly well and does not take a statin

since every one tried seemed to make him gain weight rapidly. He has

gotten his blood sugar down and is eating carefully and low-carb, but

the weight is not coming off like it should.

When he flatly refused to use statins, his doctors insist he take some

alternative, so he has been on Zetia & Tricor. The recent news (and

the really scary drugstore insert for Zetia, and the mounting costs)

have him thinking hard about stopping these.

Here's the question: what's the protocol on stopping these babies, do

we need a careful taper off or what? He's so sick of fighting the

doctors about this he's not going to ask their advice, they'll just

say 'keep taking it'.

welcome to all the newbies! Be sure to taper off the

lipitor or whatever poison you were on,it is just

safer for your health to come off slowly.my hubby has

been off 2 years and still has some side

effects..better but not there yet.His last total

cholesterol was 235 and his new dr.wants him to start

on zetia...sigh...i do not want to travel that road

I stopped Crestor cold 4 1/2 years ago and I'm still

here. Take none of them.
