Guest guest
Do not take another statin ever. I took Lipitor and then about 10 months after stopping it because of aches and pains, I allowed my doctor to prescribe Crestor. After 5 weeks I was on 2 crutches for 3 weeks in immense pain. Now almost 5 years later I still have balance problems , achilles tendon problmem, dropped arch in one foot and slight numbness in that foot. My nerves were seriously affected. I take no cholesterol lowering medicines whatsoever, just red wine eve ry 2 days or so. Read those Bus Week articles again and give a copy to your doctor. --- ejzyskowski <ejzyskowski@...> wrote: > Greetings ! > First I'd like to thank everyone for the input in > regards to the > statin problem. Guest guest
I was reading this and the light went on. While I was on Zocor (plus Tri-Cor and Zetia) I developed numbness in part of my left hand. My wife was having some major medical issues at the time so I put off checking into it until she was O-K (I'm a critical care RN, so I was able to knowledgeably rule out cardiac problems). Turns out I had "Cubital Tunnel Syndrome" - the Ulnar Nerve was being damaged in my elbow joint. The EMG test results were the worse my ortho surgeon had seen in years. So I had surgery and it has helped some - but I had the BIG improvement came after I quit statins! I also developed a pain on the lower bicep where it attaches to the forearm. It flared up when ever I lift more than 15 pounds with the left arm. That has improved since quitting statins and I'm hoping it will go away. I wish I could prove that Zoo was a factor in my left arm problems; I'm using the same deductive reasoning Dr, Graveling used that lead him to make the Statin Connection for his problems. It's not proof - but I do have reasonable suspicions. I'm not willing to risk my health to test the theory though. Guest guest
Statins can cause damage to the myelin sheathing that surrounds nerves as cholesterol is used to make the myelin and that cholesterol is not available as you take statins. Many people, like me , got the problem with the sciatic nerves. --- Samoyed <samoyed1@...> wrote: > I was reading this and the light went on. > > While I was on Zocor (plus Tri-Cor and Zetia) I > developed numbness in part of my left hand.
